Summer 2022 Health and Safety Protocols
Updated as of March 1, 2022
This page will be continuously updated with the latest safety measures and safety information for Summer 2022 based on the recommendations of our local and national health departments.
Health & Safety Measures
• Smaller group sizes (10-15 campers)
• Campers and staff will wash their hands before and after lunch.
• Hand sanitizer will be available to campers and staff.
• When reapplying sunscreen, staff will sanitize before and after helping a camper.
• Staff will wear gloves when distributing food to campers during lunch and snack.
• Majority of the camp activities will take place outside.
• Maintenance/facility staff will clean the building throughout the day and at the end of each camp day.
Face coverings will be optional for our campers and staff this summer per the latest state guidance. If your campsite is located in a rental facility, we will be abiding by their face covering guidelines.
Staff
All Apachi Day Camp employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the start of staff orientation week. “Fully vaccinated” means two (2) weeks after receiving two (2) doses of the Pfizer/BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine or two (2) doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or two (2) weeks after receiving one (1) dose of the COVID-19 Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. We highly encourage our employees to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccine status. “Up to date” means a person has received all recommended COVID-19 vaccines, including any booster dose(s) when eligible. Please review the chart on the CDC website.
Campers
We highly encourage all our eligible campers to be vaccinated and up to date against COVID-19 to help our community gain immunity. It is currently not a requirement. Please refer to the quarantine policy questions below as the protocols will differ if your child is vaccinated or unvaccinated.
Camper Tests Positive for COVID-19
The camper must quarantine for 5 days from the day they test positive (day 0).
- Once they return to camp on day 6, your child will need to wear their mask throughout the entire camp day for the next 5 days (indoors and outdoors); therefore, they will not be able to participate in swimming. While eating, they will eat outdoors and 6 feet apart from the camp group.
- If your child doesn’t want to wear a face covering for 5 days at camp, then they can quarantine for the complete 10 days.
- The camp team will email you the specific timeframe and logistics.

Camper: We highly encourage your child to stay at home until you receive the PCR test result regardless of vaccination status. If they have any symptoms at all, your child should remain at home.
Family Member: If a family member is waiting on a PCR test result, and your child is vaccinated and asymptomatic, then they can continue coming to camp. If your child is unvaccinated, then we ask them to stay at home until you receive the PCR test result.
We are not issuing refunds for any illness that your child develops during the camp season including but not limited to: COVID-19, strep throat, flu, ear infections, chicken pox, whooping cough, head lice, pink eye…etc.
If you need to quarantine due to an exposure of COVID-19 in your camp group, we will also not be issuing any refunds.
We are excited to bring back our Meet & Greet and Family Fun Nights this summer at some of our locations. Outside those events, parents and visitors will not be allowed on the campgrounds during the camp day.
For arrival and departure during carpool, we ask the driver to remain inside their vehicle and we will assist the camper at that time.
If you are picking up mid-day, you will coordinate with the office, and they will explain the pickup procedure.
While we recommend having your child tested after returning from travel, you will no longer be required to test, nor will you be required to quarantine prior to returning to camp. The local Departments of Public Health continue to recommend masking, hand washing, and distancing as the key factors to safe travel.
